Hawaii Festival Travel: Taxis & Limos

Take a Taxi or Limo to the Hawaii Salsa Festival

BY TAXI

Oahu's major cab companies offer islandwide, 24-hour radio-dispatched service, with multilingual drivers, air-conditioned cars, limos, vans, and vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts. Fares are standard for all taxi firms; from the airport, expect to pay about $30 to $45 (plus tip) to Waikiki, about $25 to $30 to downtown, about $60 to $65 to Kailua, about $55 to $60 to Hawaii Kai, and $85 to $100 to the North Shore.

- Aloha State Cab (tel. 808/847-3566)
- Charley's Taxi & Tours (tel. 808/531-1333)
- City Taxi(tel. 808/524-2121)
- Royal Taxi & Tour (tel. 808/944-5513)
- Star Taxi (tel. 808/942-7827)
- TheCab (tel. 808/422-2222)
- Coast Taxi (tel. 808/261-3755) serves Windward Oahu
- Hawaii Kai Hui/Koko Head Taxi (tel. 808/396-6633): East Honolulu & S.E. Oahu.

A discount taxi service offers a fixed-price fare of $30 (up to four passengers) to Waikiki, with no additional charge for baggage - call Star Taxi (tel. 800/671-2999 or 808/942-STAR). You must book it in advance.

Tip: Hailing a cab (like they do in New York) is not the standard process in Hawaii! Your best bet is to call from your hotel (or ask your concierge to call) or go to go a stand, at the major shopping center or place of business.

BY LIMO

Most of the taxi companies have limousines, so just ask!
