Oahu, Hawaii

Charito Rivera is currently the Lead Choreographer and Director for the Hawai’i Bachata Tahitian Ensemble. She is also a solo Hula, Tahitian, and Filipino Binasuan “Glass” Dance Performer and Private Instructor. A Beginner Salsa Dance Instructor at Dance Hawaii, Charito will be teaching Hula and Tahitian at the Hawai’i Salsa Festival 2011.

Charito Rivera first started performing in 1987 when she was a kindergarten student in her native town of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She and her family moved to Hawai’i in 1993 when she was asked to perform a Hula Kahiko, Hula Auana, and Tahitian dance routine. In high school she devoted her lunch and after-school time to learn the beautiful art of Hula and Tahitian. She took parts in hula dance competitions, performed at various private parties and public events.

Charito discovered her passion for Latin Dancing in Omaha, Nebraska. After an invigorating night of Latin dancing, she was hooked for life. Charito is proficient in Salsa, Bachata, & Merengue. She continues to perform, dance, and spread the passion of dance in her current town, Oahu.
